THE ROUTE
The 2002 BAK was my first trip on a single bike.  The previous three trips were on our tandem and I had some concerns about being able to finish each day's mileage  without the help of "stoker Stefanie."  Training time was limited this past spring and the longer rides I was able to complete did nothing for my confidence as I usually came home very tired and sore.

I chose to ride the A Route (outlined in RED above).  I was somewhat familiar with the route as it was similar to the trip Stefanie and I took on the 2000 BAK.  Some new towns, new roads, but hopefully the same fun!

The northern third of  Kansas is a great place for the BAK .  The terrain is interesting, the towns friendly, and the weather a little (I said a little) more hospitable than the southern third of the state.
